On September 28, around 11:30 a.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of Canyon Road E and 200th Street E for a two-vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation determined that a smaller sedan was traveling behind a semi-truck that was attempting to make a left turn from Canyon Road E onto eastbound 200th Street E. The semi-truck was turning on a yellow left-turn arrow when a vehicle traveling northbound through the intersection on a green light collided with the smaller sedan following behind the semi-truck.
Sadly, the driver of the sedan, an 84-year-old woman, sustained life-threatening injuries and died while being transported to the hospital.
