This morning, at 10:51 a.m., a 911 caller reported that she had been arguing with her boyfriend and then he punctured her car’s tires with a knife. The victim was at her place of employment in the 11200 block of Pacific Ave S in Parkland, and went inside to get away from the suspect.
While deputies were on their way to the location, another 911 caller reported that the suspect briefly went inside the business.
When deputies arrived, staff told them that the suspect walked away northbound on Pacific Ave S.
Other 911 callers reported that a man was sitting on the SR 512 overpass guardrail. Deputies arrived and determined he was the suspect from the DV call.
Deputies were concerned that the suspect would jump from the overpass, so they shut down the freeway below while they spoke with him.
Negotiators responded to the scene and took over communicating with the suspect.
At 11:43 a.m., he surrendered to deputies.
The 35-year-old suspect became physically ill and was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. Malicious mischief charges will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
