House Party in Sumner Ends with a Homicide

At 1:58 am, on September 14, our Foothills Detachment Deputies responded to a shooting call at a home at 7400 Riverside Drive. The caller stated someone was shot and on the ground. Deputies, Bonney Lake and Puyallup Police all responded to the call.

A dark Honda leaving the scene rammed a Bonney Lake police car and attempted to continue fleeing. The officer was able to push the car into another parked vehicle. Two 16-year-old males were detained in that vehicle. On the floor of the vehicle they saw a handgun.

Deputies and officers cleared the scene and located a severely injured adult victim in the driveway. They applied a chest seal and got the man transported to the hospital immediately. A second victim, a 16-year-old male, was also located on scene with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital and has non-life threatening injury. A third victim, another 16-year-old male was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the dark sedan was booked into Remann Hall for Assault in the 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. His passenger was also booked into Remann Hall for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

At 5:57 am, deputies were advised the severely injured victim had died at the hospital. Homicide Detectives were called out to take over the investigation.

Detectives learned there was a juvenile party being thrown at the house. The homeowner’s daughter had thrown the party and unplugged and covered cameras on the home. One of the 16-year-old victims was kicked out after a fight. He returned possibly with the other two victims. A garage door to the barn was opened and someone started shooting.
