Let’s dive in to Over the Weekend with just a few calls our deputies responded to.
#1 Commercial Burglary with Suspect Arrested
On June 1st around 11:30pm, a call came out for a commercial burglary at a business located at the 10000 block of Steel St. S. The manager called to report she could see someone on surveillance inside the building, and no one was supposed to be there. When deputies arrived, they set up containment and called K9 Bronco and his handler to track down the suspect inside the very large building. This suspect did not want to get contacted by K9 Bronco and decided to take his chances fleeing outside, where he was arrested by a sergeant outside the building. The 33-year-old male was arrested for burglary, resisting arrest, and a felony DOC warrant for escaping community custody.
#2 DUI Arrest in University Place
On May 31st around 8:30pm, a witness reported a vehicle was swerving and struggling to maintain its own lane. The witness was concerned someone was going to get hit or hurt and followed the reckless vehicle until it hit a curb and got a flat tire. The deputies immediately recognized signs of impairment, and the driver agreed to take a field sobriety test. It was clear the 33-year-old male was incapable of safely driving a vehicle and was arrested for DUI.
#3 Arrest of Child Sexual Assault Suspect
On June 1st around 9:30pm, our deputies received warrant information from Oregon regarding a subject that was living in Pierce County at the 7600 block of 211th St. E with felony warrants for three counts of child sexual abuse in the first degree. When deputies contacted the residence, the 36-year-old male suspect exited peacefully and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail for his warrant and will be extradited back to Oregon.
