Even with the excitement of the game this weekend, we still had criminals to catch. Let’s just say it was game over for these GameStop thieves.
On January 24th, around 3:30pm. The GameStop location in Spanaway called 911 to report that two males had just stolen a bunch of controllers and left on foot. We had deputies in the area within minutes, and they were able to review the surveillance footage and gather suspect descriptions. While deputies were out conducting an area check for the suspects and tracking their location from information provided by GameStop, Yelm Police Officers and Thurston County Sheriff’s assisted with locating the vehicle at the Yelm Shell gas station. Three suspects were taken into custody. Two passengers and a driver. Several boxes of brand-new controllers could be seen in plain view through the windows.
Thank you, Yelm Police Department and Thurston County, for assisting us with this arrest. The suspect vehicle was taken for a warrant so the stolen controllers could be retrieved and returned to GameStop.
