Today we remember and honor a hero.
On March 16, Deputy Dom Calata tragically passed away after being shot during a SWAT operation to arrest an extremely violent felon. He served with courage and dedication, putting the safety of others before his own.
Deputy Calata passed away surrounded by his family, friends, and fellow deputies who stood by his side in his final moments.
Even in passing, his selflessness continued. Deputy Calata was an organ donor who gave the incredible gift of life to countless strangers, allowing others to live on because of his generosity.
Please keep his loved ones, colleagues, and community in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. His bravery, service, and compassion will never be forgotten.
