#1 Pursuit of Theft Suspect
On September 25, 2026, around 10:45 pm, a Key Peninsula deputy spotted a black pickup truck with no license plates that matched the description of a truck reportedly involved in three other recent thefts in the area. An attempted traffic stop led to a very short pursuit. The vehicle traveled southbound on Purdy Dr. NW at a high rate of speed for a short distance before it lost control, taking out two power poles and crashing in the15300 block of Goodrich Dr. NW. The 28-year-old male was compliant and taken into custody for Eluding. He was medically cleared by Fire and later booked into the Pierce County Jail.
The pickup truck was taken for a search warrant, due to deputies observing stolen mail and several other items inside the truck that matched listed stolen items from previous calls. Additional charges will be added based on the results of the search warrant.
#2 Suspect Trafficking Stolen Excavator Arrested
This last call originally occurred on September 19th when an excavator was reported stolen from a construction site off Mountain Hwy E. Six days later, on September 25, 2026, the owner found his stolen excavator listed on Facebook Marketplace, and deputies were able to verify the information and location. Deputies arrived just in time to make contact with the suspect as the suspect was trying to sell it. It was confirmed to be the same stolen excavator, and it was returned to the owner.
The 23-year-old male was booked into the Pierce County Jail. It was later learned that this wasn’t the suspect’s first rodeo for selling stolen property and heavy equipment, and he is being investigated in other cases as well.
