At 6:05 pm, on October 18th, our deputies were assisting Puyallup and Sumner Police who both had robberies in their cities. The suspects were in a Teal Jeep Wrangler stolen out of Yakima and they were armed with a shotgun.
A stolen cell phone was tracked to Lake Tapps Parkway & Lakeland Hills, where deputies swooped in to catch them.
The suspects fled when deputies arrived in the area and a pursuit was initiated. Thankfully we had some assistance from WSP’s Air Unit and we were able to back off.
Bonney Lake Police successfully stop sticked the vehicle at Kelly Lake Rd and 214th Ave E and we re-engaged. Our deputies caught up to the vehicle on Hwy 410 and waited till they had traffic clear before using a PIT maneuver to get the vehicle stopped.
Two suspects ran from the vehicle and our deputy gave chase. Deputies at the jeep held the other occupants at gunpoint and could see the sawed-off shotgun next to the front passenger’s leg. They were able to detain the two occupants into custody without any issues. Deputies caught the driver when he fled and one of the back passengers ran off into the woods.
The last suspect didn’t get far. As we searched the woods with a K9 he tried to walk out of containment but was contacted by a deputy and arrested.
The suspects were three 16-year-old males and a 14-year old female. They were turned over to Sumner Police and then booked into Remann Hall.
Outstanding job deputies and great job by WSP and Bonney Lake on helping us catch these armed robbery suspects.
