At 01:16 am graveyard deputies were out with several subjects at the Smoke and More shop at 808 72nd St E. Deputies advised one subject had a felony warrant and they detained him.
At 1:44 am deputies advised they were chasing another subject from the group south on the railroad tracks. Deputies advised the suspect had a gun in his hand when he ran from them. At 1:45 am deputies advised “Shots fired” over the radio.
Deputies administered CPR but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputies reported the suspect was wearing body armor.
No deputies were injured during the shooting. The Pierce County Force Investigation Team has been called out to handle the investigation.
