Suspect Flees and His Car Pays the Price

Deputies saw a vehicle with its headlights out driving on 72nd St E near Golden Given Rd E. When they tried to light it up, the driver refused to pull over.

Deputies initially did not pursue when it took off recklessly. A second deputy located the vehicle and we were able to follow from a safe distance. The vehicle eventually lost a tire and came to a stop at the off ramp of I-5 and 54th Ave E in Fife.

Deputies tried using verbal commands and the suspects would not comply.

Several Deputies started to utilize their less lethal 40mm rounds to break the window and attempt to get the passenger and driver to exit peacefully.

The first few rounds missed off the side window, but the next several zip through the back window letting OC into the car.

The driver and passenger had switched seats, and both subjects finally exited the vehicle.

The 35-year-old woman was booked into the Pierce County Jail for Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.  The 42-year-old male driver was booked for Eluding and Obstruction.

Great team work and patience in waiting out these two suspects!
