Deputies Nab Stolen U-Haul Suspects, Find 2 Guns

At 1:51pm, on August 9th, one of our traffic deputies spotted a U-Haul Pickup truck going south on Pacific Ave at 134th St S at a high rate of speed. The deputy knew there was a U-Haul vehicle recently stolen and he thought this was possibly that stolen vehicle. The deputy lost the vehicle, but ended up finding it on Pacific Ave as it turned onto the dead end road of 123rd St S.

The truck pulled next to a building and the driver and passenger fled on foot. The passenger went towards Pacific Ave and the driver was hiding behind some vehicles.

Watch as deputies chase the driver and later detain the passenger.

Witnesses saw the passenger dump his hat, jacket and a gun before running to the street.  Our initial deputy conducted a search warrant of the vehicle and located another gun in the center console.

The driver was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1st Degree, Reckless Driving, Resisting arrest and his warrants of:

Residential Burglary, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Felony Eluding, Assault in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the 1st Degree and Obstruction.

The passenger who is on active DOC supervision was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the 1st Degree.

Awesome work catching these car thieves and getting two more guns off the street!
