Assault
1700 blk 99th St E, Parkland

Deputies were dispatched to an assault that occurred behind a bar. When they arrived, witnesses directed them to a man on the ground with head wounds. Fire personnel tended to the victim while deputies began their investigation. A witness told them that the two suspects fled the scene but left their SUV behind. He said that the victim accidentally backed into the SUV, and when he got out to assess the damage, the suspects exited the SUV and assaulted him, causing him to lose consciousness for several minutes. There was a driver’s license left behind at the scene and a witness confirmed the photo matched one of the suspects. The investigation is ongoing and we are working to get in contact with the victim to get a formal statement.

Theft of Firearm
16500 blk Meridian E, South Hill

A 911 caller reported that he was shopping at a department store when his fanny pack was stolen from his shopping cart. The bag contained his loaded pistol, an extra magazine, cash and debit cards. The victim did not see who stole the bag.

Extortion
Parkland

A deputy was dispatched to an extortion involving a 13-year-old boy. When he arrived, the deputy spoke with the victim’s 23-year-old sister. She said the victim received an unsolicited text message from an icloud email address. The victim engaged in conversation, and the suspect eventually requested nude photos of the victim, which he sent. The suspect then called the victim’s phone and told him to send $500 or he would send the photos to the victim’s friends on social media. The victim’s sister blocked the email address and called 911.

Armed Robbery, Resisting Arrest
100 blk 112th St S, Parkland

Deputies were dispatched to an unwanted person at a hardware store. While they were driving to the store, they received an update that the suspect had assaulted the store manager, stole merchandise, and damaged several vehicles in the parking lot. When deputies arrived, they spotted the suspect and arrested him after a short foot pursuit. According to victims and witnesses, the suspect was trying to steal a metal file and a hatchet, so the manager confronted him. The suspect assaulted the manager and then used a metal stake to damage four vehicles in the parking lot. The 25-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into jail for robbery in the first degree, malicious mischief in the second degree, and resisting arrest. He also had a warrant for burglary in the second degree.

Armed Robbery
12600 blk Pacific Ave S, Parkland

Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery that had occurred an hour earlier at a small grocery store. When they arrived, the owner told them that a male suspect entered the store and demanded cash from the clerk. He said the suspect had his hand in his sweatshirt pocket and implied that he had a gun. The clerk opened the register and the suspect grabbed $500 cash. The owner said the clerk is a new employee and speaks very little English, so he didn’t know to call 911 right away. We have obtained surveillance video and the investigation is ongoing.

Armed Robbery
13200 blk Meridian E, South Hill

Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery that had just occurred at a gas station. When they arrived, the victim told them that a male suspect entered the store, held the clerk at gunpoint, and demanded cash and vape pens. The clerk complied and handed over $400 cash. Witnesses saw the suspect flee on foot to a nearby apartment complex. A K9 track was initiated but the dog couldn’t locate the suspect, who likely got into a waiting vehicle. We are working to obtain surveillance video.
