At 08:03 am, on Friday May 10th, paramedics from Central Pierce Fire responded to a medical emergency of a 13-year-old male who was not breathing at a home in Spanaway.
Unfortunately paramedics were unable to save the teen who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputies were called to assist for a death investigation because of the young age of the teen. Deputies could see narcotic paraphernalia near the teen and immediately called for detectives and forensic investigators.
The teen was staying at his relatives home overnight with his brothers. Detectives interviewed everyone at the home and have applied for a search warrant. At this time it is believed the teen died from an overdose of illegal narcotics.
An adult male roommate of the homeowner was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail for a previous warrant.
Detectives and forensic investigators are still on scene collecting evidence and will present the case to the prosecutor’s office for review at a later time.
This again is a grim reminder of how dangerous illegal narcotics and fentanyl are to our community.
