Street Racing Arrest
6000 blk 192nd St E, Frederickson
Incident # 24-286-02169 & 24-286-02121
Deputies were participating in a county-wide street racing emphasis when they received multiple complaints about vehicles doing donuts and burnouts in the Frederickson industrial area. When deputies arrived, they noticed approximately 30 cars in a warehouse lot. They turned on their lights and sirens, but everyone got into their cars and sped away in a reckless manner. None of them stopped for the deputies’ lights and sirens.
As one deputy was pursuing vehicles, another deputy noticed that two other vehicles appeared to be pursuing the deputy. One of those vehicles was a red Ford Mustang. Fearing for the safety of that deputy, a second deputy chased after the Mustang. The deputy used a PIT maneuver to stop the Mustang and the two occupants were taken into custody. The 18-year-old driver was booked for eluding, reckless driving, and street racing attendance. His 20-year-old passenger was also booked for street racing attendance. Both have prior arrests for street racing.
A deputy spotted a black Chevy SS fleeing from the same warehouse and pursued it. Thanks to air support from WSP’s Smokey, the deputy was able to back off and let the plane track the vehicle. Both occupants bailed from the vehicle in the 4900 block of 161st St E and hid behind a shed. Smokey was able to direct deputies to the suspects’ location, where they set up a perimeter. Deputies announced that a K9 was on its way and both suspects gave up. The 20-year-old driver was arrested and booked for eluding and street racing attendance. The 15-year-old passenger was arrested for street racing attendance and then released to a guardian.
