On April 24th, around 5:00am, deputies were dispatched to the Allegra Terrace Apartments in University Place for a third-story apartment fire. Deputies worked quickly with West Pierce Fire to locate the fire and make sure no one was inside. Several families were evacuated.
A total of 9 families were displaced, and all families have been connected to the Red Cross. Once the fire was put out, and Fire personnel could safely go inside, it was clear this was not an accidental fire. Accelerants were located inside the apartment unit, and the apartment appeared to be purposefully set on fire.
Detectives are on scene, and this is an active investigation. If you have any information about what happened or surveillance of anyone leaving the area at the time of the fire, please reach out to our office and ask to speak with a detective.
